Day’s Reflection

I had a late start at 8:30 am today but felt less burnt out and my wrist stopped hurting! Yay! I decided to take it easy. I wanted to reign in the pressure to complete all 5 chapters in the day. Instead I’m focusing on the parts that required the most work.

That meant my strategy changed from starting sequentially to starting with the bigger scenes in the chapter that needs it most.

I realized I did the math wrong yesterday on how much time I spent revising. Looks like I’m averaging about 5 hours a day which isn’t too bad. I think 5 hours might be my limit as I’m unable to focus longer than that even with breaks and meals.

I’ve been doing roughly 30-50 minute sprints depending how focused and inspired I am. Then I take a 15-30 minute break in between.

I am thrilled with the amount of revisions I was able to do today and while the chapters aren’t 100% I feel like huge chunks of it have been resolved. I’m satisfied by the completion other than one part that spans a few chapters. That will need more time to simmer. It’s an important scene and I want to make sure it’s right. The initial scene didn’t have the spark that would make it memorable enough for me so I want to do better.

Had a twitter writing friend join me on the challenge! I’m super excited to have her join me! Especially considering this challenge was so last minute. lol Always fun to cheer and support other writing friends!
