#7DayRevisionChallenge Intro

I’m starting a #7DayRevisionChallenge where I’m going to work on revisions for my #novel!

Sorry for the lack of communication. I’ve been busy with work, real life, and with the whole world on lock down (but some are reopening including my state) it’s been an emotional ride for me. I’ve been fortunate. Other than some mental and emotional strain, I’ve been healthy and doing well. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy too!

Literally yesterday I’ve decided to do some revisions while I have some paid time off next week for vacation. (Ha! I know. This is what I do during my free time! lol) Then today I thought I should make it a challenge and wanted to share it with you!

The struggle through revisions is real for me. It might be the same for you so I thought it’d be fun to cheer each other on using the #7DayRevisionChallenge hashtag! Be sure to tag me too so I can help cheer you on! I’m @HEAnevCreates on both Instagram and Twitter!

You can make the challenge whatever you want it to be. For me, my goal is to revise 5 chapters a day but you can revise your outline instead. You could even revise your outline or whatever stage you’re currently at!

I’ve decided during my paid time off to really put myself through the grinder and finish my revisions! I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish it at the end of the challenge (highly unlikely) but I’m going to try anyways!

I don’t really see a similar hashtag with this type of challenge. All I see a #RevisionChallenge but it’s math related. haha I’d like to fit the word “Novel” in that hashtag but it’s long enough already. lol I’m sure this isn’t an original idea but it’d be fun if we could cheer each other on!

My goal is to work on 5 chapters a day. This won’t be too difficult for the first part of the novel because it’s fairly clean. It will be more complex in the later half of the book because there are some chapters I’ve not written yet as I’ve decided to add them during my revisions. However, I do have an outline, it’s not 100% set but I want to get what I have down while I can. I expect I’ll do more rounds of revisions but this is a larger round of revisions than usual for me.

There are under 30 chapters in my current WIP.

  • Saturday: 1-5
  • Sunday: 6-10
  • Monday: 11-15
  • Tuesday: 16-20
  • Wednesday: 21-25
  • Thursday: 26-30
  • Friday: 26-30 (I know I have this down twice, it’s because I anticipate some huge changes here. I might even need more time than this but this is the goal for now.)

I’d like to make updates on my blog to hold myself accountable so you can follow me here if you want!

I’m pretty excited and hope that I’ll be able to complete this! I’ve actually never revised this consistently but I’m tired of me holding myself back and seems like the best time to do this is now!
