I’ve been continuing to challenge myself with my watercolor paintings. I know I’ve been doing more complex objects which is good for me! Pushing myself has increased my confidence and courage to try drawing or painting subjects I don’t normally do. I think I’ll probably go back and forth between more simple subjects and complex subjects as I feel inspired. Aloha! Today I will be painting the Diamond Head Landmark in Oahu. My mom and I were able to to visit last year for the first time and we had a wonderful time. My mom had her birthday this past week and at her request she wanted a rainbow, mountain, palm trees, and mentioned and island and I thought of Hawaii! So for her birthday I painted this for her as a gift. I’m thrilled that she seemed delighted by the painting. 😆 I was afraid she might not like it. lol I can’t help but feel critical of myself…

I have to admit, I was surprised and pleased at how this turned out! Not to toot my own horn but I haven’t really sketched or drawn animals in awhile. I did use a reference photo I took of my dog so I think that helped a lot. I was also pleased by the sketch I did for the painting and was afraid of messing it up when I started to watercolor. lol I’m thrilled that it turned out decent! Sorry that I couldn’t contribute more in my video when talking about Black Lives Matter. I’m still working on speaking on camera.
