It’s hard to focus on something when it constantly feels like everything is important. It’s like things are coming at you from all sides vying for your attention. I feel you. I’ve been there.
For those who are still floundering, take at least 5 minutes to list everything that you need to do, take a breath, and identify the tasks that drive your dreams and necessities.
Take a step back and reassess all the things in your life. Write down all the things on paper in a list. Identify all the important items. Be ruthless in determining what isn’t necessary in your life anymore. Only you know what is important to you. Will it hurt anyone if you take time away from it? If not, then let it go, you can always go back later if you choose.
Anything that doesn’t move you closer to your priorities or your dreams aren’t important. I’m not telling you to abandon everything completely but perhaps take things in phases. You’re allowed seasons of self care, of hard work, of chasing your dreams. You don’t have to do all at once, in fact, that’s the way that leads to burn out.
Time is fluid and you are flexible. But don’t forget that there are always some trade offs when you spend time on something. You just have to choose how you want to spend your time and energy.
Took me some time to understand what I wanted in life. I’m finally achieving the goals I’ve set for myself but I’ve still got a long ways to go!
How do you guys prioritize your dreams?
