This is my first time doing a “Word of the Year” (WOTY) thing. I jumped on the bandwagon when I saw everyone else doing it during the new year. I thought it might be fun to join in so I’ve officially decided the word of the year is:
COMPLETE
If you follow me on social media then you already know that this word wasn’t my first word of choice. I had a change of heart a few days after I chose my first WOTY which was FINISH. After a few days of thinking, I ended up finding a better word that encompassed what I want for the year which was COMPLETE.
First of all, in the same vein, the words means the same. My goal this year was to finish my projects because I have been literally dragging out finishing my novel for years. It’s time to finish that book and publish my debut this year (hopefully! I still need some betas so if you’re interested, visit this page). More books if possible too! I have hopes to complete a few other books too since they are partially drafted but we’ll see. Too often I find myself starting something but rarely finishing the project. This is why I want to focus on completing the things I’ve started. #wordoftheyear
The second part is that I also want to feel more complete and authentic to myself. No longer allowing others to influence how I view myself nor trying to be a huge people pleaser. I want to feel complete, of my own volition and know that I am worthy, enough, and valuable.
My strength and will comes from God and no other man or person on this Earth. I am already COMPLETE through HIM. I have to keep reminding myself this and do feel like I’ve made some progress about this the past year. My life should complete me in every action I take. No longer do I want to settle for things because they are easy or convenient. I want to chase my passions. Do the things I’ve always wanted without any more excuses.
This is my first time setting a word for the year so let’s see how this turns out! I couldn’t really think of a good word but this came to me suddenly as I was falling asleep, as one does to get the best ideas, and it felt perfect.
Have you guys done this before? Did it work out for you? What is your word for the year? I want to hear!
“Sorry,… I changed my mind.” Crack up!
Thanks! I’m glad you got a kick out of it! lol
I love that you goal includes not allowing other people to influence how we feel about yourself. I’m am also struggling with pleasing people. But when I do that, I only prevent myself from reaching my full potential. I did not pick a work of the year… but I’m starting to think that I should. There are still 10 and a half months left in the year 🙂
Thank you! I’m glad you recognized how you feel too! It’s hard to identify in the moment, only after the fact do we notice… Yes! You definitely still have time picking a word of the year! Let me know what you choose, I’d love to know! 😀
